“Hey Folks! Thanks for checking out some of my favorite originals. A few are from the nineties, but most are from the millenial era. The songs are fairly multi-faceted, with images and metaphors from the natural world. They would just show up a few times a year, lyrics and music all at once, somewhere on a long drive. Contact me if you are interested. See ya round!” - Thomas

CHRISTMAS TREE

Christmas Tree – As a kid, I used to get all choked up seeing a little Christmas tree in January, out by the curb: Thinking of all the happy little kids, and now, out on the street. Then I was struck by news of the eviction moratorium expiring a week after Christmas, ouch! The song refers to historical bits of the homeless reality: Streets of Laredo, dust bowl, Maria and José, eviction, and dreams.

ISABELLA DRAW

Isabella Draw – Fire lookout days, fire camp, fire season, sort of a composite of Forest Service days. The song began with the chorus, and just flowed from the first couple lines, no plan at all. It’s partly to a firefighter I used to know.

AH SEEN THE PRESIDENT

Ah Seen The President – It’s the 46 Presidents Song! I had to add ol’ Joe a year ago. Was gonna do one about the periodic table of elements, but I kept laughing when I got to helium!

PIÑATA

Piñata –A girl once asked me if I had a “Spirit Animal.” I told her it was probably a Piñata! She’s like, “Aw, that’s so sad.” Naw, it’s just being a Dad; takin’ your hits just to see her smile!

BLACK CROW

Black Crow – Black Crow, for the girl who talks with the crows.

HERE WITH YOU

Here With You – Warm me up, on our first morning. Love is here with you. To you who keep requesting this one.

SPACESHIP

Spaceship – Remembering the first moon landing, when Astronaut Collins stayed in orbit running the command module, while his buds Neil and Buzz made history on the moon. That’s like me, going to the mall: I’d rather wait in the car.

BEST CHRISTMAS

Best Christmas Song – Used to go out cross country skiing on Christmas Eve afternoon, sort of a spiritual thing. I always try to really feel a special occasion, like looking at the stars on Christmas Eve, or having a snowy Christmas morning.
